Velázquez, Javier
Born in Las Piedras city (Canelones, Uruguay) in 1938. Since 1956 to 1960 studied at National Fine Arts School with the master Vicente Martín.
From this first stage primera, make engrave courses with the master Luis Mazzey and pottery with the master Freire at the same School.
Since 1960 started to take part in National Contests, with a stimulating result. Show his works in National art galleries and in exhibition places.
In 1987 maked an important exhibition at Bruzzone gallery with figurative oils most of them city landscapes. Houses and streets in a compositive play, dividing plane and cut out silhouettes and figures perimeter.
An uniform palette in earth and ochers colors using sometimes palette knife, disclose his true trade.
This suggest geometric effect advise the influence of Petrona Viera's bottles, integrate now at his studio promote an interesant transparencies and forms. His works it's like a puzzle.
