Sosa, Gustavo
Plastical artist born in San José (Uruguay), on 10th October of 1945.
With sensitive spirit and definite vocation, considers like a real motivation who guides his works, more than matters, meet a plastical situation and resolve it with his painter ability.

In 1960 attend to Historical Cultural Institute Studio and at Departamental San José Museum, where studied with Edgardo Ribeiro (disciple of the Master Joaquín Torres García) and Hugo Nantes.
In 1962 exhibed his works with other students of the Studio at Municipal Subway (Montevideo, Uruguay) and later at Interior Plastical Artists Contest several times and in other contest realized in San José City (Hogar Católico, Asociación Cristiana, Teatro Macció).
Maked several individual exhibitions at Uruguayan Hispanic Cultural Institute of Montevideo in 1978, also exhibed his works at San José Departamental Museum and at Macció Theater at several times.
Receive San José Molino Acquisition Prize and Manuel M. Cobas Acquisition Prize for his oils "Landscape" at X Interior Contest (1966); Incentive Prize awarded by National Fine Arts Commission and San José Jockey Club Acquisition Prize for his oil "Landscape" at XI Interior Contest (1967); San José Molino Acquisition Prize for his oil "Landscape" at XIV Interior Prize(1970); in 1978 at XXXXII National Contest realized at Macció Theater and at III San José Visual and Plastical Arts Contest realized in 1980 and 1982, respectively.
Since 1996, exhibe his works at Portón de San Pedro Art Gallery of Montevideo (Uruguay).
His works are in private collections of Argentina, Germany, Brazil, Uruguay, Spain, USA and Canada.
