Painter born in a village in the outskirts of Moscow (Russia), on 9 November 1874, during a trip that made his parents born in the USA.
He studied at the Academy of fine arts of New York (USA) in 1891; then he went to Paris (France) in 1894 to complete his studies under the direction of Benjamin Constant, Laurence and Carmon in L' École des Beaux Arts.
He traveled to Spain, Belgium, Holland, Italy, and Germany, where he made exhibitions of his paintings.
He arrived in Montevideo (Uruguay) in 1912, exhibited his works and devoted himself especially to the portrait.
He returned to France in 1914 to return definitively to Montevideo (Uruguay) in 1925, dying in 1947.
Awards:
1894- Won gold medal at the National Academy of Design (New York, USA).
1904- Gets gold medal at the Salons des Artistes Français as an American (Paris, France).
1905- Gets silver medal at the International Exhibition of Fine Arts (Liege, Belgium).
1910- Obtained silver medal at the International Exhibition held to celebrate the first hundred years of Argentina (Buenos Aires, Argentina).
It had nationalized in France, which was always considered a painter of French and decorated with the Legion of Honour.
In Montevideo (Uruguay), he painted the portraits of "José Enrique Rodó", "Juan Antonio Zubillaga", "Juana de Ibarbourou", "Luis Alberto de Herrera", "Ernesto Laroche", "José Belloni", etc.
His works are in the national historical Museum (Montevideo, Uruguay), at the National Museum of fine arts (Montevideo, Uruguay); as well as numerous private collections in Uruguay, Argentina, USA, Canada, Spain, France, Belgium, Germany, Holland, Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, etc.
